How Learning Makes You Better and Get More Done!

I hope you had a good November “break from reality” with food, family, and fun! I was down in sunny Florida working on a few projects. I am so excited about what is coming in 2019! The team and I are in the planning and development stages but I am committed to bringing you resources to support your efforts to be a high-performer!

I have always been interested in learning and teaching. I was the kid that wanted the neighborhood to play school instead of hide-and-seek! Of course, I was the teacher! :-) Education is critical to your success - in business and life. You should always be learning something with the goal of mastery.

Well-being is the state of being happy, healthy and prosperous. It is more than just "health."

Make sure you check out my previous blog, “Why the Health?” where I explain what health REALLY is and why you absolutely need to understand it on a different level.

Health is multi-dimensional and well-being is one of the dimensions, in my opinion, the most important. I refer to well-being as the {whole} you. It is how you become a balanced, high-performing, well-rounded individual. As a health coach, I ensure my clients understand it is not just what they eat or how much they workout - it is improving their life in all areas. I focus on seven components:

  • Physical

  • Mental

  • Emotional

  • Spiritual

  • Financial

  • Intellectual

  • Community

Over the next few weeks I'm going to share tips to help you improve in each area. The transformation to your best self happens one step at a time.

Let's start with Intellectual!

Your intellectual well-being will support your success in the other six areas. Being healthy and well is a learned behavior which does not come natural. You must be taught how to eat good, the best ways to exercise to get results, and how to have a healthy relationship with money.

Intellectual well-being means you are striving to improve an area, or areas, of your life with sound knowledge. Webster defines intellect as the power of knowing as distinguished from the power to feel and to will. Your intellect will take you further that your feelings and will-power. Your intellect kicks in when you choose a healthier food option over one that simply taste good. My intellect is how I tame my french fry addiction! If I know I am having french fries at dinner - I will not order them during lunch because of the carbs. See, it’s all about balance AND happiness!

I want you to think for a moment, what was the last thing you learned without it being a requirement for work or school? When was the last time you took a refresher course to learn how to maximize usage on a program you use regularly? It can be as simple as learning how to use additional features in Microsoft Office, Excel or even your favorite social media platform. Think about it, if you are using these tools, and possibly paying for them, why not know more than the basics?

A few months ago I realized I could share specific days from my Outlook calendar to schedule meetings easier. Now, I use Calendly and Doodle to schedule but this was even easier because it paste right in the body of the email. Watch this short video to see how you can save time and alleviate the back forth of "what day/time works for you?" We all have gone that rabbit hole!

I am grateful to help you save time and improve your performance.

Is there one of the seven areas of well-being you need support with?
